Celebrating Easter again in the spirit of traditions and encounters

Traditional Pomlazka

Boys and men on Easter Monday (or Red Monday) go from house to house “whipping” girls and women. The origins of the pagan tradition of beating girls have a paradoxically poetic significance. The men are interested in the girl.

The girls then respond to them in the form of a tied sneaker to see if they have a chance with them. Whipping with a twig, tartar, boil or juniper should also guarantee women youth, beauty, health and fertility.

The red pentle indicates that the girl likes the boy, blue gives the boy hope, green tells him that he is a favorite, and yellow indicates that the girl is not interested.

In Moravia, singers also water girls with water, and there is no exception for the girl to be immediately rinsed in a stream or a bath. It is also common to vape low-scented perfumes with an expired use-by date.

Somewhere, it is customary for the tasks to rotate in the afternoon or the next day, and the women go for a walk.

Boys usually beat sweets, tartar bowls, colored eggs, small treats, including strong alcohol.

It wouldn’t be possible without eggs

Eggs have been a magical item since time immemorial. It symbolized fertility and a supernatural power was often attributed to it as the source of life. Egg coloring is more than five thousand years old. He is known from China.

In line with popular tradition, the custom of decorating eggs is accompanied by a number of ceremonies and superstitions. The egg hides something, it’s like a locked tomb in which life is still hidden. There is a clear symbolic link with the resurrection of Jesus and with the Christian Passover.

Today there are many techniques for coloring Easter eggs. At home, try to remember the traditional customs of our ancestors and tell your children about your Easter experiences when you were little.

In the past, eggs were colored mainly because red is a symbol of blood and love. Often our great-grandmothers acquired color, for example, from bricks, which they broke due to red dust. Of course, we don’t do it anymore, but some techniques are still possible today, such as dyeing with red onion skins.

Macrame eggs. Heat up the fusion gun. Make a small dot with glue on top of the egg to hold the end of the macrame yarn. Then gradually glue the wire around.

Another known technique was the coloring of beets. Put the washed eggs in water with chopped beets, add vinegar and salt. In order for the color to be beautifully saturated, do not skimp on the beets.

You can get green eggs with spinach or nettles. The rule also applies here – the more the better. Add salt, vinegar and a little cumin to the pot of spinach (it can also be frozen).

If, for example, you want to present the singers with blue Easter eggs, prepare a head of red cabbage, grate it on a grater and put it in a saucepan with hot water, add vinegar and add a pinch of salt .

Eggs can be easily decorated using Pilot Twin Marker and Pilot Pinter non-washable markers.

How to entertain children at Easter?

  • The tradition of finding hare eggs

In some neighboring countries, instead of singing, parents prepare entertainment for children by looking for hare eggs in the garden or in the apartment.

In the marked area, the adults hide small gifts for the children, which the children then search for – whoever finds them first will remain. Adults can help children as soon as the child approaches the place, they can shout “burn in …” and “burn” in a moment of closeness.

If you want to deepen the adventure experience, create maps or a map with cryptic help showing where to look for eggs and other details.

  • Fun Easter games to play at home or in the garden

Obstacle course or race with an egg – All you need is a spoon and some eggs. The task is simple, with an egg on a spoon to go through the section as quickly as possible. For more fun, it is good to first create an obstacle course at home from chairs, boxes, toys and fight it with an egg on a spoon. Whether you use raw, hard-boiled or puffed eggs is up to you.

soufflé – you will need a straw, popped or plastic eggs. The children’s task will be to collect the eggs from start to finish by blowing through the straw.

Easter Tapping – In this game, two players face each other, each holding an egg, tapping the tips of the eggs at their command. The one whose eggs remained intact wins.

Egg rolling – All it takes is one egg and a small mound, a slope from which children let their eggs roll and whoever rolls the farthest wins.

Bojovka – This game is more difficult to prepare. Parents will have to create a game plan, mark the fields, blow eggs and prepare a treasure for the children, which they will only discover once all the numbers have been found and solved.

The plan of the game with a description and a legend, where the child will then write parts of the numbers, the parents write on a small card, which they roll into a small roll and put in a blown egg with the inscription The game begin. They then hide the encrypted parts in a reserved field.

They then give the children eggs, in which they find the game plan after breaking and start looking for individual numbers and adding to the legend. When they find all the parts of the cipher and decipher them, they will understand where to find the treasure.
