Duck kiss or botox on the lips. Which lip augmentation myths do you believe?

Aesthetic medicine can make women boost your confidenceBut it is true that the process does not always lead to customer satisfaction. But such unsuccessful sculptures of various celebrities, not to mention the unflattering transformations of celebrities who have become addicted to interventions, can last a relatively long time in a person’s mind. And if you add information from the source “said a lady”, it may be that many people are unnecessarily afraid to just go to a specialized clinic and consult what is bothering them. What rumors are circulating about lip augmentation and why is it nonsense?

1. Botox blast on the lips

Botulinum toxin is a substance used in aesthetic medicine, but ideally to reduce facial wrinkles around the forehead and eyes. If only botox applied to the lips, the only result would be the exact opposite in the form of sagging. Therefore, only fillers based on hyaluronic acid, which is a substance naturally present in the body and therefore very well tolerated by the body, are used to enlarge lips or lift loose corners.

2. I will have a “duck face”

they are just puffy duck lips celebrities who may deter some women from the procedure. Most of them yearn for nature, but nature often lags behind social media photos. But it is up to you what specifically you agree with the doctor who will perform the lip augmentation.

“We can achieve a much more natural result, for example, with a new technique called tenting. It’s filling the lips with hyaluronic acid, we lift the lips vertically and thus obtain a beautiful contour with a result very correct, “says Dr. Zuzana Macková, specialist in aesthetic and anti-aging medicine at the Yes Face Clinic. In one procedure, a maximum of one milliliter of filler is always applied to the area of both lips.

3. My enlarged lips last forever

Lip augmentation is most often performed using hyaluronic acid, which is body-specific and well-absorbed. Therefore, this procedure does not last forever. “The effect of the enlarged lips usually lasts 12 to 18 months. Here too, however, it depends on the quality of the material. However, with other applications the effect is prolonged”, emphasizes Dr. Jakub Miletín from the Perfect Clinic, adding that the patient may not be satisfied after the procedure. In this case, however, they don’t have to wait a year for the material to be absorbed, but the doctor can speed up the absorption of the filler at any time with a substance called hyaluronidase, an enzyme that dissolves the filler from hyaluronic acid in a few days. But then you have to wait at least 6 weeks before a new request.

“Unfortunately methacrylic fillings are sometimes applied somewhere where it is not possible to dissolve the filling, so please choose carefully what you have applied to your face and ensure that the application is done by a specially trained doctor and in no case a beautician. “, advises Zuzana Macková. Moreover, such an implant remains the same, even if a person’s face changes slightly with age, and the lips may look unnatural. Some clinics use implants that can be removed later, restoring the original shape of the lips.

4. I have to take a vacation

Do you think that after lip augmentation you will heal much like after eyelid plastic surgery and the procedure will require more time spent at home? These are unnecessary worries. In the case of hyaluronic acid injections, a weekend will be enough for you to heal. The procedure itself takes you about 20-30 minutes and your lips are usually only puffy. It takes 2-5 days, but regular ice cream will help a lot. The procedure will cost you around 5,000 and 10,000 CZK, depending on the amount of filling and the specific type of procedure. The surgery then requires a longer recovery period (swelling and bruising can last up to ten days), if it is performed under general anesthesia, as a rule, on the day of hospitalization. Prices vary depending on the type of procedure, compared to injection application, they are about twice as high.

5. It really hurts

Minor cosmetic procedures are often performed with hypodermic needles, which can scare someone into fearing pain. However, you don’t have to worry about anything, because just like at the dentist, the spot will be numbed to you with either numbing cream or local anesthesia. “In addition, a filler containing the anesthetic lidocaine is used, which relieves the pain of the application itself. After application, swelling and sometimes even small bruises appear, which however disappear within a few days”, explains Jakub Miletin.
