AMD will release refreshed Zen 3 and Ryzen with 3D V-Cache in Q1 2022

It already looked like AMD wouldn’t be releasing any new desktop processors until the end of 2022. But no, two separate novelties are to be released at the start: the refreshed “XT” models of Zen 3 and next to them separately from the processors with 3D V-Cache. Both always for socket AM4.

So that there are few different “leaks” on what will happen behind the processors, more information has emerged on what AMD plans to do in the future with the Ryzen desktop processor offering. It looks like we’ll see a callback to the current Ryzen 5000 processors with the Zen 3 architecture before the new Zen 4 arrives. It’s started sharing more docs, samples, and other secrets about its own upcoming products. with his partners, who then gradually disclosed again.

The following information comes from a Twitter leader dubbed Vegeta, who recently provided some legit leaks (e.g. he was aware in advance of the Radeon Pro W6000 release, which AMD launched on Tuesday), so may -be he should have real behind-the-scenes resources. This leaker has now mentioned when the next generation of Ryzen processors and Radeon graphics are expected to release.

The first part is not completely new: according to Vegeta, the Radeons with the new RDNA 3 architecture and the Ryzena 7000 “Raphael” with the Zen 4 and 5 nm architecture should be released in the fourth quarter of 2022. we’ve heard it here beforeso take more so that this data is still being confirmed, or has not changed.

The 5nm Ryzeny and Radeons RX 7000 (unless otherwise specified), which are supposed to be chips, will probably be released between October and December, which would mean exactly two years after (released in November) RDNA 2 and Zen 3 According to Vegeta, these two products should really come out around the same time. He also adds that the GPU with RDNA 3 architecture has not yet undergone what is called a tape release, but it will happen this year, a little later in the year (since the tape release, it takes usually a year or a year and something release).

‘XT’ Will Refresh Zen 3, But It’s Not The Promised Ryzens With 3D V-Cache

But now the new part. The same source also confirms that current Ryzen 5000 processors with Zen 3 processors will be refreshed for the desktop. We expected this to happen, but there have been no reports of it yet. At first it was thought that it was already signaled by the arrival of Vermeer chips with B2 stepping, but AMD then announced that this silicon would gradually be used in all existing models. And when there is no news about something, the question is whether it really exists or will exist.

But Vegeta writes now that Zen 3 will be really refreshed. However, the complication is that it will not be released this year, but only in 2022, allegedly in the first quarter (Q1 2022). That is, about three quarters of a year before Zen 4. AMD may announce it at CES 2022 in January, but it may start selling later, for example in February, March. However, it is said that the term is not yet fully finalized and could evolve with it – in such an advance, release dates are not yet given definitively.

This refreshing leaker is talking about “Zen 3 XT”, so maybe it should be something like last year’s Ryzena 3600XT, 3800XT and 3900XT which didn’t bring any new tech and only increased the frequencies slightly. Maybe they could still be labeled as 5000 series i.e. Ryzen 5 5600XT, Ryzen 7 5800XT and so on.

But this refresh isn’t supposed to be the same as the Ryzen CPUs with the added 3D V-Cache chiplet that AMD unveiled last week at Computex, which is also a surprise. They are said to be a separate product and also expected to release next year. So AMD won’t be releasing a new generation of Ryzens this year (although the desktop Ryzens 5700G and 5600G with integrated GPU will be released this summer), but next year in the first half there will be two different refreshes or improvements to the processors with Zen 3 cores, to finish straight Zen 4. Whether one of these refreshes is what was in the old roadmap as “Warhol” is still unclear.

Zen 3 “XT” models and additional Zen 3 processors with 3D V-Cache (these will likely only offer some expensive high-end models, perhaps 12-core and 16-core) will be compatible with socket AM4, according to the same funder. So they won’t remember DDR5 and the AM5 platform yet. This will be the last final update that can be installed on AM4 cards. So if you don’t have one with X370/B350/A320 chipset, you don’t get new BIOS with support anymore.
